I am a Cybersecurity Executive with a long track record managing talented teams in complex technical matters. I have ample experience in cyber technology research, design and development, delivering tangible innovative results with direct impact on the businesses where I have operated. I have also provided expert consultancy to top tier organisations.

I hold a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University Autonoma of Madrid, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University Carlos III of Madrid, where I usually collaborate as a Part Time Professor and affiliated researcher with the Computer Security Lab (COSEC).

Since 2018, I lead the cybersecurity architecture area globally in Global CISO at Santander Group, covering both traditional IT systems and digital global platforms. In my team we create and communicate the security reference architectures of mandatory applicability at Group level, covering Secure Software Engineering, Application Security, Identity and Access Management, Data Security, Cloud Security (Azure, AWS), Network and Infrastructure Security, Endpoint Protection, Malware, Security monitoring, and Incident Response domains.

During my career, I have worked on multitude of domains, including PKI, Non-repudiation, Attack modelling and categorisation, Applied cryptography, Cyber situation awareness (dynamic risk management, decision support and mission impact assessment), Security evaluation methodologies (Common Criteria, FIPS 140-2), Cybersecurity information sharing, Simulation, training and experimentation in cybersecurity (cyber ranges), Critical information infrastructure protection, Risk management, Provable security and Software security assurance. Notwithstanding, I am always eager to explore new research trends and challenges.

I have regularly participated in standardisation efforts and high-level consultancy at international level. I am also involved in non-for profit activities in the international scientific community, being reviewer for a number of conferences and top journals in the field.
